La donante llega a Chile en el año 1981 como parte del cuerpo diplomático de la Embajada de Suiza. En el año 1982 durante unas vacaciones comienza a visitar algunas cárceles con presos políticos como los son la Cárcel de Osorno y la Cárcel de La Serena, llevando alimentos y algunos artículos que sirvieran a los presos para realizar artesanías.
